BHS tennis gets win over Omaha Gross
The Beatrice boys tennis team picked up their first dual win of the season Thursday against Omaha Gross.
The Orangemen defeated the Cougars 6-3 at Hannibal Park in Beatrice.
Beatrice won two out of their three doubles matches. The No. 2 doubles team of Colt Dittbrenner and Max Meyer won their match 8-4.
The No. 3 doubles team of Dawson Saathoff and Connor Freitag won their match 8-1.
The No. 1 doubles team of Cole Crandall and Zack Zimmerman lost in a tight match 8-6.
The Orangemen picked up four wins in singles action on Thursday. No. 2 singles player Connor Freitag won his match 8-4 while No. 4 singles player Dawson Saathoff won his match 8-3.
In No. 5 singles action, Max Meyer was victorious 8-3 while No. 6 singles player Zack Zimmerman won in a 9-8 tiebreaker.
No. 1 singles player Cole Crandall had trouble getting into a rhythm and lost 8-4 while No. 3 singles player Colt Dittbrenner lost 8-6.
Previously on Tuesday, Beatrice hosted a dual with York and lost 9-0.
In No. 2 singles, Freitag lost his match 8-2 while Dawson Saathoff fell in his No. 3 singles match 8-1. In No. 5 singles, Max Meyer fell 8-2 and Zack Zimmerman lost his No. 6 singles match 8-1.
The remaining matches on Tuesday were sweeps by York.
The Orangemen tennis team will be in action again on Tuesday when they travel to Ralston. They will then be home again on Thursday when they host Omaha Roncalli at Hannibal Park.
