Pakistan bowler Hafeez’s action under scrutiny
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Mohammad Hafeez has been reported for a suspect bowling action during Pakistan’s thumping 248-run victory against New Zealand in the first test on Thursday.
Hafeez is the second Pakistani offspinner to be reported after Saeed Ajmal was suspended by the International Cricket Council in September for an illegal bowling action.
The ICC says match officials submitted an official report on Hafeez’s action to Pakistan team manager Moin Khan.
Hafeez has to undergo testing at an ICC-accredited laboratory within the next three weeks. He can continue to bowl in international matches during this time. He bowled 22 overs in the first test, returning figures of 2-81.
Hafeez led the Lahore Lions in the recent Twenty20 Champions League in India where his bowling action was also reported by match officials.
