1 dead after armed robbery suspects crash near Albany
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — One armed robbery suspect is dead and two others are seriously hurt after authorities said they tried to flee and crashed their car.
KOIN reports that Oregon State Police said troopers found a car reported stolen out of Eugene on I-5 near Albany shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The car and the occupants were also suspected of being involved in multiple armed robberies in the Eugene area.
The car fled as troopers attempted to perform a traffic stop. However, the car lost control and rolled several times.
One occupant died at the scene while the other two were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The Eugene Police Department has launched a criminal investigation into the car’s occupants for the armed robberies while Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
