About 22 minutes into the first half Mandy Stricker scored the first goal off of a PK. Two minutes later Iowa Lakes scored off of a corner kick. At the 33 minute mark Iowa Lakes scored again off of a corner kick.

We possessed the ball well and I felt we ran our game plan exactly like we wanted. But we gave up two set piece goals and struggled scoring regardless of many great chances. That is a recipe for a loss. Our defense did a fantastic job keeping Iowa Lakes out but we are having troubles getting goals. The opportunities are there, but our composure in front of the net is not there. We need to fix that if we plan to win big games.

Men:

Final:

Northeast 1

#15 Iowa Lakes 3

Score at half:

Northeast 0

#15 Iowa Lakes 1

Goal:

Arthur Lopez (PK)

Saves:

Massimiliano Simonazzi 14

Shots (On goal):

Northeast 16 (6)

Iowa Lakes 24 (17)

Iowa Lakes scored first within the first 20 minutes of the match. Six minutes into the second half Lakes took a 2-0 lead off another goal. At the 80th minute Arthur scored off of a PK to bring us within one. Five minutes later Lakes scored the assurance goal to win 3-1.

Our level of play was there. We moved the ball and created some chances. Iowa Lakes defense did a great job keeping us with our back to the goal. We had some great chances in the first half but came up empty. Defending in front of the goal seemed to be our problem today. We were so worried about defending the corners we completely forgot about the middle. All three goals were scored within the 18 and right in front of the goal. That shouldn’t happen and that needs to be fixed.
