Feds, Cuyahoga County deputies capture suspect in carjacking

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man accused of stealing a car at knifepoint moments after a court appearance is back in custody after being arrested Tuesday, authorities say.

The U.S. Marshals Service says Cuyahoga County sheriff’s deputies and members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force spotted Sean Vanderlin, 32, near the intersection of Pearl Road and Denison Avenue in the Brooklyn Centre neighborhood after receiving a tip.

Vanderlin ran as authorities moved in to arrest him, but he was caught on the 2400 block of Denison.

Vanderlin was wanted by the U.S. Marshals and Fairview Park police for aggravated robbery.

Marshals say he was first arrested on Sept. 26 on a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle. He was held in the Fairview Park City Jail until Sept. 27, when he posted bond during a court appearance.

Authorities say moments after he was released, Vanderlin approached a 46-year-old woman who was sitting in her vehicle not far from the courthouse, ordered her out at knife point, and stole her vehicle.
