Wife of Author Sidney Sheldon Dies of Heart Attack

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Jorja Sheldon, the wife of author Sidney Sheldon who edited her husband’s best-selling novels, has died of a heart attack at age 64, Sheldon’s publicist said.

Mrs. Sheldon suffered a heart attack on Thursday and was taken to Cedars- Sinai Medical Center, where she died after a second heart attack Saturday, said publicist Sharry Manning.

A former actress, Mrs. Sheldon had returned ill two weeks ago from a trip with her husband to South America for research on his latest book, said Ms. Manning.

The Sheldons, married for 35 years, had traveled the world together, and their hobby was the purchase of homes for Mrs. Sheldon to decorate. After living in the refurbished home a short time, they would sell it and move on to another.

Mrs. Sheldon edited her husband’s novels, including such best-selling titles as ″Rage of Angels,″ ″If Tomorrow Comes″ ″The Naked Face,″ ’Master of the Game,″ ″The Other Side of Midnight,″ ″Bloodlines,″ and ″A Stranger in the Mirror.″

As an actess, Mrs. Sheldon appeared in the movies ″Whistlestop,″ and ″Heaven Only Knows.″ She also toured the United States with the New York company of ″Streetcar Named Desire,″ playing Stella in the Tennessee Williams’ play.

A private memorial service is planned, Ms. Manning said.
