Man Slain In NYC’s Central Park
NEW YORK (AP) _ A man sitting with his girlfriend on a bench in Central Park was shot to death during an attempted robbery early Tuesday, police said.
Ismael Marzan, 25, and his girlfriend, whose name was not released, were sitting on the bench at about 12:30 a.m. when they were approached by three men, police said.
The men demanded the couple turn over jewelry and a jacket. Marzan was shot in the head before the two could comply, and the men fled. Marzan’s girlfriend was unhurt and able to call police.
Police said two men were in custody, but no charges had been filed.
It was the first homicide in Central Park since July 22, 1999.
