Charlie Brown Live: Christmas show at Shubert

November 13, 2018

The 1965 TV special was more than Emmy Award-winning television; it became an annual must-see in the lives of Baby Boomers, their kids and even their kids’ kids.

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” has charmed millions, and, yes, there is a stage show that renders a live version of the heartwarming show. “Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage” will take place three times Friday, Nov. 23, at New Haven’s Shubert Theatre. The show can also be seen at the Palace in Stamford Saturday, Nov. 24, at 1 and 4 p.m.

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and the whole Peanuts gang put on their own Christmas play and ultimately discover the true meaning of the season, as you would expect. The characters are played by actors, not garishly costumed mimes with oversidzed heads as in some other young-child shows. (Producers say it’s best for 4 and older.)

Musically, the stage show features all the classics from the Vince Guaraldi musical score, including “Christmas Time Is Here” and “Schroeder’s Christmas Concert.”
