STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) _ Fullback Roderick Russell rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns Saturday as Georgia Southern finished a losing season with a flourish, defeating Liberty 45-14.

Quarterback Greg Hill ran the ball 27 times for 136 yards and three touchdowns and completed 6-of-8 passes for the Eagles (4-7), who had a losing record for the first time since 1982.

Stacy Nobles scored from the 1 in the third quarter, and Ben Anderson hit Lance Duncan with a 2-yard touchdown pass in the fourth for Liberty (5-6).

Russell, a junior, gained more than 100 yards for the fifth time this season and also became the sixth Georgia Southern player to rush for more than 2,000 yards. He had a 20-yard touchdown run at 10:07 of the first period and a 9-yarder with 4:44 left in the first half to make the score 24-0.

Hill’s touchdowns came on a 1-yard run capping a 96-yard drive in the second quarter, 2 yards in the third and 10 yards in the fourth. Four of his six pass completions went to Maurice Bing, who finished with 56 receiving yards for the day and a new school record with 38 career receptions.

Chris Chambers started the scoring with a 34-yard field goal that was set up with a 49-yard run by Bennie Cunningham.

The 45 points were the most the Eagles have scored this season.
