Bernice Puckett, 91, of Kankakee, passed away Monday (Feb. 25, 2019) at Presence Heritage Village in Kankakee.
She was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Ashkum, the daughter of Jerome and Alice Reynolds Fruin.
Bernice worked for the Ammunition Procurement and Arsenal Agency in Joliet for 25 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, bunco and being with her grandchildren.
She was a member at Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Gary) Baker, of Bradley, and Debbie Stark, of Bourbonnais; one sister, Ellen Magee, of Fairbury; eight grandchildren, Bryce Baker, Amber Sherer, Holly (Jesus) Quiroz, Casey (Amy) Baker, Tiffany (Gerardo) Guzman, Christopher (Kristine) Stark, Angie (Mark) Crane and Mary (Josh) Thornton; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her former husband, Duane Puckett; her sister, Alice Hamlyn; her brothers, Robert Fruin and Francis Fruin; and one grandchild, Jason Baker.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Bourbonnais Chapel. A private family burial will be at a later date.
