Police: Toddler lived in home with heroin, needles in reach
GREENFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Police say a man is in custody after officers found heroin and drug paraphernalia at his Greenfield apartment and evidence that a child lived there.
Prosecutors say 39-year-old Everett Kendrick was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute and child endangerment following the Wednesday raid.
He was held on $5,000 pending arraignment Friday. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
Police say they recovered 42 bags of heroin, 19 packets of Suboxone and an electronic scale inside the apartment.
Officers also discovered evidence that a toddler was living there with Kendrick and his girlfriend, although the child was not present during the raid.
Authorities say more than 10 uncapped needles, some containing liquid suspected to be heroin, were located in the bathroom within a child’s reach.
