Surveillance photos show man sought in connection with 2017 rape in Cleveland, police say

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Images pulled from a surveillance camera show a man sought in connection with a 2017 rape in Cleveland, police said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the May 25, 2017 rape that happened on East 146th Street near Milverton Road, police said.

A Cleveland police spokeswoman said she received the photos Wednesday from the police department’s sex crimes unit. She did not say when sex crimes detectives first obtained the photos.

A woman told police that she got off a bus about 1 a.m. on East 147th Street. A man, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, approached her and pointed a gun at her, police said.

The woman have the man $1 and her ID before the man forced her to go into a backyard.

The man met a second man in the backyard. The man with the gun sexually assaulted the woman before both men ran away, police said.
