Man shoots at two women in Cleveland during argument over religion

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man pulled out a gun and fired shots at two 18-year-old women after the trio got into a heated argument over religion, according to police.

The shooting happened about 1:30 a.m. Thursday at the man’s apartment on Lakeshore Avenue near East 185th Street in the city’s North Shore-Collinwood neighborhood.

The women told police they went to visit the 32-year-old man’s, who was a mutual friend.

They started talking about religion and the man took an expletive-laden swipe at Jesus, according to police reports.

One of the women got upset, asked the man not to say awful things about Jesus and the argument ensued, police reports say.

The man got irate, took his shirt off and started cursing at the woman, police reports say.

The women walked to the man’s car and got their purses in order to leave. The man pulled out a gun and told them they had 10 seconds to leave before he shot them, according to police.

The women turned around, saw the gun pointed at them and the man fire two gunshots in their direction, police reports say. Neither were hit by the gunfire, police reports say.

The woman yelled at the man and told him she was calling 911. The man jumped into an SUV that sped off westbound on Lakeshore.

No arrests have been made in the case.
