Drugs

Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group arrested David Cortez Saulsberry, 27, of Bradley, for possession of cannabis with intent to deliver on May 2. According to a release, at approximately 5:31 p.m., agents executed a search warrant at a home in the 700 block of Meadow Court in Bradley. They recovered 53.5 ounces (1,517 grams) of suspected cannabis products.

Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group arrested Makala Joi Miles, 25, of Kankakee, for possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and obstruction of justice on May 2. According to a release, at approximately 3:13 p.m., agents made a traffic stop near the intersection of East Court Street and South Gordon Avenue in Kankakee. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 3.21 pounds of suspected cannabis.

DUI

Bradley police arrested Demarius R. Hill, 25, of Kankakee, for driving under the influence of alcohol with a BAC more than .08 and driving under the influence of alcohol on May 1. According to a report, at 10:35 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on North Kinzie Avenue. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Hill. Hill showed signs of impairment. Hill also was issued tickets for no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding and transporting open alcohol.

Illinois State Police arrested Cher S. Watson, 40, of Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing a police officer, obstructing justice and unlawful possession of another’s identification card on April 28. According to a release, at 6:32 a.m., a trooper on patrol in Iroquois County observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed (101 mph in a 70-mph zone) on Interstate 57 northbound at mile marker 278. The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Watson. Watson showed signs of alcohol impairment. Watson also was issued tickets for speeding and driving while license suspended/revoked.

Illinois State Police arrested Maria J. Lara, 22, of Kankakee, for driving under the influence of alcohol on April 28. According to a release, at 2:57 a.m., a trooper was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 115 at 3500S Road in Kankakee. The trooper arrived on scene and spoke with the driver, Lara. Lara showed signs of alcohol impairment. Lara was issued tickets for improper lane usage, operating a motor vehicle while using an electronic communication device and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Illinois State Police District 21 arrested Taryn L. Olszewski, 52, of Clifton, for driving under the influence of alcohol on April 26. According to a release, at 10:23 p.m., a trooper on patrol in Kankakee County observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on U.S. Route 45 at 7000S Road. The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Olszewski. Olszewski showed signs of alcohol impairment. Olszewski also was issued tickets for speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Robbery

Two men told Kankakee police they were robbed by two men displaying handguns in the 400 block of South Indiana Avenue on May 1. According to a report, the victims said they withdrew money at an ATM before walking to a gas station. The suspects were both wearing masks. The victims described the suspects as black, both being 5 feet, 11 inches with slender builds and between the ages of 18 and 25.
