Police charge Westport man in pipe threat
WESTPORT — A Westport man was arrested after threatening to harm several people with pipes at a Westport home, police said.
On Nov. 15 around 10 p.m., officers were dispatched to a Westport home on report of a disturbance that became physical with one party threatening to strike another with a pipe. Upon arrival, Akeem Hosten, 34, attempted to leave in his car but was detained by officers who observed two pipes in Hosten’s car near the driver’s seat, police said.
Officers learned Hosten and the victim had been in a verbal argument over broken personal items when Hosten allegedly grabbed the victim, causing minor facial injury. During the argument, Hosten also brandished a pipe and threatened to use it to harm the victim’s family members, police said.
Hosten was transported to police headquarters, where he was charged with third-degree assault, threatening, disorderly conduct, and weapons in vehicles. He was released after posting $2,500 bond and was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Nov. 16.
