District Five to hold search for disabled children next month

JOHNSONVILL E, S.C. —Florence County School District Five will conduct a search next month to identify children with disabling conditions who are not enrolled in school.

The Child Find search will be conducted on March 13.

Florence County School District Five presently provides or is planning programs or services for children with the following disabling conditions: intellectual disabilities; deaf/hard of hearing, deaf-blindness; visual, orthopedic or speech-language impairments; specific learning and emotional disabilities; traumatic brain injury; developmental delay; autism and other health impairments and disabilities.

Parents with a child who does not attend school who has one of the disabilities listed above is asked to take him/her to Johnsonville Elementary School between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 13. Kindergarten registration will also be conducted during this time.

Any person who knows of a disabled child between the ages of 0-21 who is not in school and lives in the Florence County School District Five area is asked to contact Wanda Moore, the district’s special services administrative assistant, at 843-386-3268.
