Lanesboro Gallery hosts ‘self-portrait’ show
LANESBORO — An opening reception for “Spitting Image,” an exhibition of self-portraits by artists, will be held from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lanesboro Arts gallery, 103 Parkway Ave. N, Lanesboro.
Forty-one artists, working in a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing and photography, are featured in the juried show.
“Historically, artists would use themselves as models because they couldn’t afford to pay someone else,” said Robbie Brokken, gallery director. “This tradition has given us a glimpse into the past and continues to provide insight into the mind of the artist and how they see themselves. It’s been fascinating to see all the different mediums and what each individual artist has done with them.”
The reception includes wine and snacks, with live music by Mandy LeBarge-Mathis.
The exhibition continues through April 6. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
