Vandalism closes St. Louis area school until Thursday
WELLSTON, Mo. (AP) — A St. Louis area high school is closed until Thursday after vandals sprayed fire extinguishers, damaged classrooms and shattered glass.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that two juvenile suspects have been arrested, and three others are being sought after Normandy High School and Barrack Obama Elementary School were damaged over the weekend.
The school district says damage covers all three floors of one building at the high school. Teachers will return Wednesday to clean up their classrooms.
The elementary school’s damage was less severe. Papers were strewn about and desks were sprayed with a fire extinguisher.
Police say one of the juveniles in custody is a student in the district. They say the same group is responsible for vandalism a week earlier at Normandy Middle School.
