Huntington Towpath Century Ride celebrates 10 years in June

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio – The 10th annual Huntington Towpath Century Ride, a fundraiser for the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail and connector trails, is scheduled for June 8 and 9.

The 101-mile ride was founded by Roger Read and a group of friends who value the Towpath Trail. Since the ride’s inception, more than $500,000 has been raised, according to Read.

The ride is open to 130 participants, but just 21 spots remain. The ride begins at Settler’s Landing in downtown Cleveland, and winds through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and downtown Akron before concluding in New Philadelphia.

Riders have the option of completing the course in one day or two, and can participate as an individual or as part of a team. Participants are each asked to obtain pledges totaling at least $750.

The Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition is also looking for donors to support the riders and volunteers to help out during the event. To learn more about the ride, visit towpathcenturyride.com.
