NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) _ Seth LeGrand scored 17 points and Northwestern forced 22 turnovers while committing just nine Saturday as Northwestern beat Samford 53-46.

Charles Duncan added 12 points for Northwestern (3-3), which never trailed after taking a 25-22 halftime lead. Northwestern opened a 43-32 margin halfway through the second period and stretched the margin to 18 points, 53-35, with 4:36 to go.

Will Daniel led Samford (5-1) with 15 points. Leading scorer Johnathan Pixley was held 10 points under his 17 point average, making just three of 13 shots.

Samford shot 14 of 38 from the floor for 37 percent, and managed just two field goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half.

LeGrand scored 12 second-half points, including eight straight. Duncan got nine of his 12 in the second half.
