Woman ordered to trial in boyfriend’s beating death

June 6, 2018

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A woman has been ordered to stand trial in the beating death of her boyfriend in their northwestern Pennsylvania apartment.

Forty-four-year-old Windi Thomas was held for trial after Wednesday’s preliminary hearing in Erie County on all charges including murder and aggravated assault.

Prosecutors allege that she stabbed, beat and knelt on 44-year-old Keeno Butler during a fight in March. The coroner said he died of a combination of his throat being crushed and injuries to his head. He was also stabbed.

A detective testified under defense questioning that Thomas had bruising to her head and face and said she fell at the booking counter.

Under questioning by the prosecutor, he said surveillance video showed her charging and hitting a wall while handcuffed and then banging her head on the ground.
