ALASKA GOVERNOR-RESIGNATIONS

JUNEAU — Republicans have claimed control of the Alaska Senate and say Anchorage Sen. Cathy Giessel will be the new Senate president. UPCOMING: 150 words by noon.

— UNSAFE ICE — Bethel officials are warning people that ice on the Kuskokwim River near town has not yet formed completely and is not safe for motorized vehicle.

— HOTEL PARKING LOT SHOOTING — Two men have been arrested in connection with a man’s shooting death in the parking lot of an Anchorage hotel.
