Man identified as victim of deadly fire in Alabama
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A 63-year-old man who had been pulled from a burning vacant apartment complex in Alabama and later pronounced dead has been identified.
Al.com reported Monday that The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Carley Eugene Vinson. The coroner’s office said Vinson’s cause of death is pending.
Battalion Chief Sebastian Carrillo says the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service was called Thursday around 8:08 p.m.
Two people were removed from a building. Vinson was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Carrillo says the fire was contained to one unit on the top floor. Two units on either side of the burning unit sustained smoke damage.
Authorities have not yet said how the fire started.
