LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Officials say the Arkansas Lottery brought in a record $500 million in revenue last fiscal year, which funded nearly $92 million in college scholarships. 250 words.
LAS VEGAS — A Nevada judge is halting the use of a drug in the execution of a twice-convicted killer hours before he was scheduled to die by a first-of-its-kind lethal injection mixture. Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez ordered the delay Wednesday in response to a challenge by New Jersey-based drugmaker Alvogen, which says it doesn’t want its product, midazolam, used in “botched” executions. Scott Raymond Dozier’s execution had been scheduled for Wednesday evening. A previous challenge, filed last year by a different drug company in Arkansas, was unsuccessful in halting that execution. — CROP DUSTER CRASH — Emergency officials say one person is dead after a crop duster crashed in eastern Arkansas.
HARRISON, Ark. — Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn says he’s agreed to a contract extension through the 2023 season after taking the Razorbacks to a runner-up finish in last month’s College World Series. Van Horn, who just completed his 16th season at Arkansas, said Tuesday night that the deal includes options for the 2024 and 2025 season. He declined to release specifics.
