MONROE, La. (AP) _ Karen Hopson had 17 points and four of her teammates scored in double figures Saturday night as Northeast Louisiana seized a 40-26 halftime lead and held on for a 77-73 Southland Conference victory over No. 13 Stephen F. Austin.

The victory continued a homecourt hex over the Ladyjacks by Northeast (15-5, 10-2 in the Southland), which also beat Stephen F. Austin (18-4, 12-1) in Monroe last season, snapping a 46-game conference winning streak.

SFA entered Saturday night’s game with a 15-game winning streak against conference opponents.

Hopson and the others stepped forward when starting forward Cassandra Barker left the game with a sprained right ankle with 11:23 left in the first half.

Marion Ponthieux had 12 points for Northeast, Crystal Steward added 11 and Ronda Harrison and Markita Jennings scored 10 points apiece.

Deneen Parker led SFA with 26.
