With grant funds, the Rice Family Foundation supports eligible, local nonprofits in the greater Hanover, Pennsylvania and surrounding communities who dedicate their time, efforts, and resources to foster a better community. Grant funds are supported by commitments made by the Rice family to start the Foundation.
In early 2018, The Rice Family Foundation invited local nonprofit organizations to apply for grant funds by July 31 st. After careful review of the applications, The Rice Family Foundation selected recipients based on those exceptional organizations and their various initiatives which benefit so many people in the community.
The recipients of the grant funds have varying missions, from Olivia’s House, a grief and loss center for children, to the Guiding Hearts with Hope, a community recovery organization, to Big Brothers Big Sisters of York and Adams county, helping children to succeed and thrive in life.
One organization, New Hope Ministries, Inc., a social service agency, is a grant recipient who works to help neighbors in times of need with a focus on “basic needs”, such as food and shelter. New Hope Ministries also offers a range of stability programs including GED preparation, job training, cooking and nutrition classes, among others. “ We are grateful to The Rice Family Foundation for their generosity,” said Molly Helmstetter, Development Director, New Hope Ministries, Inc. “ Having supported over 7,000 people in the Hanover area alone this past year, this grant will be used to support the most important basic, yet essential recipient needs.”
