STANFORD, Calif. (AP) _ Katy Steding scored 24 points to lead Stanford to a 105-77 victory over Illinois State in the second round of the women’s NCAA Midwest Regional Saturday.
Illinois State led only twice during the first half, the last time at 10-8, before Stanford took control. The Cardinal 57-37 at halftime and was in front by 32 points with 6:08 left to play.
Four other Stanford players joined Steding in double figures. Jennifer Azzi scored 19 points, Trisha Stevens added 15, while Sonja Henning and Evon Asforis each contributed 10 points.
Steding, Azzi and Martha Richards each scored three 3-point shots.
For Illinois State, 23-8, Cindy Kaufmann scored 20 points, while Char Govan added 17 and Leslie Ferrell contributed 13 more.
The Cardinal, 27-2, will play Iowa at Rustin, La. on Thursday.
