ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) _ Thomas Enqvist of Sweden withdrew from the ABN/AMRO World Tennis indoor tournament Thursday because of the flu, giving Roger Federer of Switzerland a walkover in the second round.

Federer will get a chance to avenge last year’s loss in the finals when he meets defending champion Nicolas Escude of France in the quarterfinals.

On Thursday, the Frenchman routed Spaniard Tommy Robredo 6-1, 6-2, showing his supremacy on the hardcourt of the Rotterdam Ahoy stadium, where he had upset top-seeded Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain in three sets Wednesday.

Also, second-seeded Yevgeny Kafelnikov of Russia was ousted by Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3.

Sixth-seeded Tim Henman of Britain survived the second round, beating Fabrice Santoro of France 7-5, 4-6, 7-5.

Henman could face Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson, who plays Arnaud Clement later Thursday.

In other play, Ivo Heuberger defeated Max Mirnyi 7-6 (2), 6-2, and Sebastien Grosjean outclassed Martin Lee 6-0, 6-2.
