Races set around the region

February 1, 2019

The Tri-State offers several opportunities to get outdoors and exercise for a good cause. Here are some upcoming events:

• Charleston Parks and Recreation’s Winter Series 10K/5K located at the Charleston UC School of Pharmacy Parking lot. Race is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 3, with a start time of 2 p.m. Course is very flat, paved road down Kanawha Avenue. Race will begin at UC campus, loop through Kanawha Avenue and streets, and end at the start. Entry fees $25 for each or $50 for all three.

• Genesis 5K Training Winter Season located at Hurricane, West Virginia in Teays Physical Therapy Center and Potential Plus. Race is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 5, and will start at 7 p.m. This is a nine-week training program to prepare for a 5K on Saturday, April 6. This class is for beginner runners and no prior running experience is required. Training course is held in Potential Plus’ indoor training facility in Hurricane. The rest of each week’s training is done where ever you want — in your neighborhood, park or at a local track. Contact Genesis Running head coach Matt Young with questions.
