Va. Tech’s Noel to Have Surgery
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) _ Virginia Tech quarterback Grant Noel is scheduled to have surgery on his right knee Tuesday.
``All the clinical signs are there that it’s a torn meniscus,″ trainer Mike Goforth said Friday.
Noel, a 6-foot-1, 222-pound junior, tore the cartilage while lifting weights Wednesday. He’s expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks, but Goforth said the arthroscopic procedure is minimally invasive and Noel should recover quickly.
The Hokies open practice Aug. 11, and open their season Sept. 1 at home against Connecticut, and Goforth has said he expects Noel to be ready to go for both.
