New lights meet with approval at NH-Maine bridge
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — The new lights on the Memorial Bridge connecting New Hampshire and Maine are getting a thumbs-up.
Pale blue lights lit up the towers on the new bridge over the weekend.
But a committee in charge of the lighting says the best is yet to come.
The Portsmouth Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1gowL3P) software programs will be installed that will allow for a rainbow of colors.
The new bridge connecting Portsmouth to Kittery, Maine, opened in August, replacing the original built in 1923.
The final phase of illuminating the bridge, adding lights to the approaches, is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2014.
