Holy Cross 94, Colgate 89
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) _ Chris Rojik had a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead Holy Cross to a 94-89 victory over Colgate Wednesday night.
Brian Lockhart added 17 points for the Crusaders (10-12 overall, 4-4 Patriot League), Walter Brown scored 15 and Ted Bettencourt had 14.
Colgate (9-13, 5-2) played the game without standout Adonal Foyle, who was forced to miss the game due to a concussion. Seth Schaeffer led the Red Raiders with 21 points. Derek Hyra had 15 points, Malik Cupid scored 13 and Mike Roberts added 11 for Colgate.
Colgate built a 53-46 lead at intermission after hitting 10-of-15 3-pointers.
But a stingy Holy Cross defense held Colgate to just three 3-pointers on 16 attempts during the second half. The Crusaders took their first lead after the break on a 3-pointer by Lockhart with 9:28 remaining that made it 72-70.
The Red Raiders tied the game 74-74 on a putback by Tim Bollin with 7:52 left in the game, but Holy Cross went on a 14-4 run to take a 88-78 lead with 2:54 left. Colgate could get no closer than four points for the remainder of the contest.
