Fort Mohave man arrested in kidnapping, assault on officer
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Mohave Valley address Saturday after receiving reports of a disturbance.
According to statements allegedly made by the reporting party, 40-year-old Fort Mohave resident Joshua L. Husted was seen forcing his way into a residence of a former girlfriend.
Deputies say Husted had a history of domestic violence at the location, and there were active warrants for his arrest. Deputies arrived at the address and knocked on the door, the report said, but they received no answer. According to the report, the homeowner later reported to deputies that Husted had threatened to harm her if she alerted deputies when they arrived.
Husted left the scene, and was found Saturday evening when he returned to the residence. Reporting parties could hear shouting at the location, and deputies requested the assistance of Fort Mohave Tribal Police. Law enforcement officials forced their way into the home, the report said, and found Husted behind a closed door within the residence.
Husted was ordered to exit the room, but refused, the report said. When deputies attempted to push the door open, Husted allegedly pushed back, causing injury to one of the deputy’s legs. When law enforcement officials forced the door open, Husted was allegedly seen standing in an aggressive manner. Deputies subdued him with an electronic stun device, and Husted was taken into custody. Husted was transported to Mohave County Jail on charges of threatening the victim, unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping and aggravated assault on an officer.
