DENVER _ Striking Denver teachers wearing red packed a library meeting room Tuesday for a public negotiating session with district leaders on the second day of a strike over pay. The meeting, facilitated by a federal mediator, was the first time the sides met since talks broke down over the weekend. Red is the color teachers in states across the country have donned in the past year amid similar strikes and protests for better pay and working conditions. By Colleen Slevin.

DENVER _ Shares in Molson Coors fell in morning trading after the company said it was restating its 2016 and 2017 financials and reported revenue that missed estimates. The beermaker said an error in its 2016 accounting related to its partnership in MillerCoors resulted in an understatement of its tax liabilities and an overstatement of net income by almost $400 million 2016. More accounting errors the following year related to MillerCoors and the tax law resulted in an overstatement of tax expenses, an understatement of net income and an understatement of the deferred tax liability for 2017. MURDER CONFESSION-WRONG VICTIM _ A 20-year-old Colorado man has been sentenced 48 years in prison for the 2017 shooting death of a woman. The Daily Sentinel reports that Joseph A. Saur, of Montrose, was sentenced Monday by Montrose County District Judge Keri Yoder on a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old Patience R. Stewart, of Olathe.
ALASKA UTILITY-POWER STUDY_ An electric utility in eastern Alaska has stopped a study on the costs of buying power from a Colorado company’s wind turbines and propane generators. The Golden Valley Electric Association announced last week it had halted the study, saying Eco Green Generation had not filed paperwork with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to become certified to sell power, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported .
