Bomb Squad Called Over Sack Lunch

February 12, 1987

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) _ A clerk ended up having to buy lunch after setting the one she brought to work out on a window ledge to keep it cool.

It seems someone outside spotted the sack lunch on the ledge and reported it to the Spokane County Commissioner’s office.

Administrative officer Marshall Farnell was summoned from Tuesday’s commissioners’ meeting and he called the sheriff’s bomb squad, which ended up discarding the sack after inspecting its contents.

Rosanne Montague, the commissioners’ clerk, said she wasn’t aware of the drama unfolding over of her lunch because she was taking notes at the commissioners’ meeting.
