NICK CANNON HOSTS NEW SHOW, “THE MASKED SINGER”

NEW YORK (AP) — Nick Cannon says the fun in his new singing competition show, “The Masked Singer,” is that no one is trying to win anything. Celebrities dress up in elaborate costumes that hide their identities, and a panel must guess who it is based only on their voices. Cannon says viewers won’t root for someone to win a record contract or a million dollars, because “these people are already millionaires and already have deals and awards.” Cannon says the panel are not judges, but “investigators,” because they’re trying to help viewers figure out who it is. The panel consists of Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke. “The Masked Singer” premieres tonight on Fox.

The annual extravaganza in Pasadena kicked off with a performance by singer Chaka Khan, the grand marshal of the parade, and featured 40 floats decorated with countless flowers and waving celebrities. The theme was “The Melody of Life.”
