Small fire, leaks close Scotty’s
Scotty’s Brewhouse on West Jefferson Boulevard closed its doors after a small fire and leaking sprinkler Thursday morning destroyed part of the restaurant on the city’s southwest side.
Fort Wayne firefighters arrived at the restaurant about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Adam O’Connor, Fort Wayne Fire Department deputy chief.
“Engine 17 went to assist with the water leak from the sprinkler system,” O’Connor said. “When they arrived, they realized there had been a fire and contacted the Allen County board of health.”
Contacting the health department is routine, O’Connor said. The Journal Gazette was unsuccessful in reaching the health department, but a closure sign and notice of condemnation had been taped to the front doors of the restaurant.
About 1:30 p.m. Thursday, a statement was issued on the local restaurant’s Facebook page indicating the restaurant was shuttered but did not say when it would reopen.
Efforts to reach management were unsuccessful.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are temporarily closed at our Fort Wayne location. We apologize for any inconvenience and will keep you updated when we are all set to serve you again,” the Facebook post said.
