SPRING BLIZZARD-ROCKIES

DENVER _ Flights and baseball are being canceled ahead of a looming spring blizzard in the Rockies. About 40 percent of Denver International Airport’s daily flights were scratched Wednesday, most of them in the afternoon when rain is expected to turn into snow. SENT: 130 words. Will be updated.

SPRING FLOODING

PIERRE, S.D. _ Blizzard warnings are posted from Colorado to Minnesota as a storm develops that could rival last month’s bomb cyclone. SCHOOL SHOOTINGS-PRINCIPAL SUPPORT

COLUMBUS, Ohio _ In the days after a teenager shot and killed three fellow students at Ohio’s Chardon High School in 2012, then-Principal Andy Fetchik remembers getting a call from someone who knew just what he was experiencing. It was Frank DeAngelis, the principal of Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, during the deadly 1999 shooting. DeAngelis told him: It’s going to be OK. You’ll get through this. POLICE SHOOTINGS-COLORADO _ One man is dead after being shot by police in southern Colorado. In Denver, police say a carjacking suspect fired at police leading one officer to return fire early Wednesday.

BRAVES-ROCKIES PPD _ The Colorado Rockies have postponed Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves because of inclement weather. The game will be made up Aug. 26 in Denver.

BKN-TIMBERWOLVES-NUGGETS

DENVER _ The Minnesota Timberwolves visit the Denver Nuggets in NBA action Wednesday night. Game starts 8:30 p.m.

HKN--PLAYOFF PRIMER-BY THE NUMBERS

Welcome back to the playoffs, New York Islanders. Same goes for you, St. Louis, Dallas, Carolina and Calgary. All five teams are returning to the postseason after at least one season off (or nine, for the Hurricanes).
