Mississippi man kills 1 burglar in break-in, wounds another
MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi man has fatally shot one burglar and seriously wounded another during an early morning break-in.
Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley tells The Sun Herald that resident Michael Richardson woke up Monday morning to a loud noise and grabbed a gun. Ashley says Richardson heard someone say “Nobody’s home,” and then two people then burst through his front door.
He says Richardson opened fire, and 18-year-old Titus Kelly Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. The other suspect fled. Police soon learned that a 19-year-old man named Antonio Jackson had been taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds to his chest. Ashley says Jackson was in serious condition and flown to an Alabama hospital.
He says no charges have been filed against Richardson. An investigation is ongoing.
