Fitchburg Man Charged in Robbery Attempt
FITCHBURG -- A city man was arrested after a failed attempt to rob a Main Street restaurant on Wednesday night, according to police.
Zenon Rosa, 29, of 4 Leighton St., Apt. 1, was charged with attempt to commit a crime, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, resisting arrest, walking on railroad tracks, and disorderly conduct as a result of the incident, according to court documents.
Rosa, said police, enter the Tikki Tikki Restaurant at about 10 p.m. and demanded food and money and when the an employee refused his demand, Rosa punched the employee and then pulled a knife.
With no money or food, Rosa fled and officers were called.
After running across several busy downtown streets and along the railroad tracks near the Intermodal, said police, he was captured and continued to resist arrest.
When he was arraigned Thursday, he was ordered held in lieu of posting a $1,000 cash bail or $10,000 surety bond, according to court documents.
Rosa’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 20.
