Navy Officers Charged With Running Prostitution Ring
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ Two Navy petty officers were arrested after they tried to entice two police officers posing as prostitutes to join a prostitution ring selling sex to recruits, authorities said.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Larry Donnell Evans and Petty Officer 2nd Class Reginald Lamar Scott, both 25, were released Friday from the Orange County Jail after each posted $1,000 bond. The two were charged with living off the earnings of a prostitute and securing another for prostitution.
If convicted, they could face up to five years in prison.
The two were arrested Friday at an Orlando motel, where they had told the two female officers they could make thousands of dollars a week selling sexual services to recruits at the Orlando Naval Training Center, police said.
Police said they did not know the size or age of the alleged ring.
