Ferrellton park finishes fence replacements

November 30, 2018

The Jenner Township Community Park in Ferrellton has updated fencing with some help from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies.

The last remaining section of fence at a softball field in the park was replaced through a project costing $4,975. The foundation awarded a $1,000 grant to the park.

The remainder of the cost was paid by the community park board, Lions Club, Jaycees and township.

Jenner Township Supervisor Keith Barnick said the fence was replaced between sporting seasons in October by JIF Fencing of Windber. The other sections of fence at that field were replaced last year.

The park is owned by the Boswell Lions Club and leased by Jenner Township.

In addition to its use for baseball, softball and football leagues, the park is also home to many trails, a playground, concession stands and pavilions. It hosts the annual Community Day as well.
