One Dead, Six Hurt When Boat Hits Breakwall Late at Night
MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) _ A 21-foot cabin cruiser with seven people aboard rammed a breakwall at full throttle, killing one person, officials said today.
The other six people were injured, one of them seriously, according to authorities.
″Witnesses said he was going full throttle when he hit the breakwall″ at 10:30 p.m. Sunday on the way into Lake Michigan, said Deputy Gary Berdinski of the Muskegon County sheriff’s Marine Division.
Berdinski said Betty Bosset, 26, of Muskegon, died early today at Hackley Hospital.
The boat’s owner, Larry Monroe, 32, was reported in serious condition, while four were in fair condition and one person was treated and released, said a Mercy Hospital spokeswoman who refused to be identified.
Berdinski said operations were under way to remove the boat from the rocks.
