SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard was to discuss the implications of a U.S. Supreme Court case in the state’s favor allowing the state to more easily collect sales taxes on online purchases. ROSEBUD, S.D. — The emergency department at the Indian Health Service hospital on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation is under scrutiny again. Federal inspectors from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services surveyed the hospital in late July. Tribal leaders say they’ve lost hope of turning things around. UPCOMING: 300 words.


BISMARCK, N.D. — More than 300 Basin Electric Power Cooperative employees are taking buyouts as the North Dakota-based utility tries to cut costs amid a plummeting financial outlook. Basin’s latest financial forecast predicts a decade of losses at subsidiary Dakota Gasification Co., which operates the Great Plains Synfuels Plant near Beulah. The majority of co-op employees taking buyouts are from North Dakota. Some are from South Dakota and Wyoming. SENT: 130 words. UPCOMING: 250 words.
