Michael Pack

Michael Pack, age 50, of the Ranger Community, passed away Monday, Nov. 20 in the Hamilton Medical Center.

Michael was born Nov. 17, 1967 in Gordon County, son of Marvin Pack and Sandra Grizzle. He had lived his entire life in Gordon County and was formerly employed in the local textile industry. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars in his spare time. Michael loved his children, grandchildren, and family. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Stevie McElroy.

He is survived by his parents, Marvin Pack and Sandra Grizzle; one son, Dylan Pack; two daughters, Tasha Pack and Haley Pack; three sisters, Dana Raybun, Craiglyn Newberry and Ashley Grizzle; aunts, Maggie Sue Harris and her husband, Billy, Angie Henson and her husband, Kenneth, Janelle Bunch and her husband, Larry, Patricia Evans and her husband, Barry, Donna Greeson and her husband, Terry; uncles, Curtis McElroy and David Millsap. Three grandchildren, Hayden, Gavin and Logan, also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Michael Pack will be conducted at a time to be announced later at the Old Oakman School.

Wanda Farner

Ms. Wanda Faye Farner, 75, of Shannon, and formerly of Dalton, departed this life early Saturday morning, Nov. 18, 2017 at Chulio Hills Health and Rehabilitation in Rome.

Ms. Farner was born in Cleveland, Tenn. on July 31, 1942, a daughter of the late Thomas Clyde Brackett and Bessie Estell Richards. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, J.D. Brackett, Floyd Brackett, John Brackett and Richard Brackett; sisters, Christine Helton, Shirley Brackett and Ida Mae Brackett.

She was previously employed by Shaw Industries in the sample department at Plant 52.

She is survived by her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Khrist and Michael Nelson of Shannon, Pam and Todd Fain of Resaca; brothers, Kenneth Brackett of Dalton, and Donald Brackett of Ball Ground; grandchildren, Brayleigh Nelson, Felicia Stone and her husband, Ethan, Brandon Nelson, Aaron Nelson, Colton and his wife, Farrah Walston, and Cody and his wife, Frankie Walston; great-grandchildren, Haven Brock, Cole Stone, River Stone, Easton Nelson, C.J. Walston, and Kamryn Walston; also many other loving family and friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Wanda Faye Farner were held Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at 3 p.m. from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Tony Robertson officiating. She was laid to rest at the Colonial Hills Memorial Park with Cody Walston, Colton Walston, Larry Nale, and Treston Nale honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the Ponders Melrose Chapel on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 from 5 until 9 p.m.

Roger Buis

Roger Manford Buis, age 46, of Calhoun, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 at his residence.

Roger was born on July 4, 1971 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Sandy Dean and the late Roger D. Buis. He was a member of St. Clement’s Catholic Church.

Roger is survived by his mother, Sandy Dean; wife, Carmela V. Buis; two sons, Jonathon Buis and Otto Fernandez; three daughters, Emily Buis, Lesly Fernandez and Paola Barrios; brother, Sam Buis; and two grandchildren.

Services are currently incomplete and will be announced soon by Thomas Funeral Home.
