Stetson 76, Fla. International 69

MIAMI (AP) _ Kerry Blackshear scored 25 points and three other players were in double figures to lead Stetson to a 76-69 victory over Florida International on Thursday night.

Stetson (8-6, 4-1 Trans America Athletic Conference) scored five points in one possession with 1:08 left in the period for a 39-31 halftime lead. Ryan Marifke hit a short jumper and was fouled by Leland Johnson, then Johnson was called for a technical. Marifke hit all three free throws.

Stetson stretched the margin to as many as 13 points in the second half. But the Golden Panthers (3-11, 1-5) outscored Stetson 7-2 to cut the lead to 73-69 with 25 seconds remaining.

Marifke made one of two free throws with 17 seconds left, but the Golden Panthers couldn’t get off a shot, and Blackshear’s layup with 2 seconds remaining gave Stetson the final seven-point margin of victory.

Stetson shot 50 percent from the field and outrebounded Florida International 34-29.

Jason Alexander, Tremayne Thomas, and Marifke added 10 points each for Stetson.

Florida International was led by James Mazyck with 22 points, his third consecutive game with at least 20 points. Scott Forbes added 13.

The Golden Panthers hit 48 percent from the field, including 56 percent in the second half.
