We’re expecting you
History reveals that the original Baby New Year was born in Ancient Greece and, as was customary of the time, the infant was displayed in a simple basket. The image we have today of the chubby, top hat, sash and diaper clad version of baby New Year as shared on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post in 1906 now is the symbol marking time’s passage.
While the world celebrates the first baby born in the New Year, we are fortunate to celebrate close to 1,300 birthdays each year. We understand the joy, excitement as well as the anxieties that accompany pregnancy and childbirth.
We know that one of the initial decision expectant parents make is where to celebrate the birth of their child. We have delivered thousands of babies and can appreciate the importance of giving birth in a full-service facility that has the resources to handle even the most unexpected. When you are expecting, you should expect the best.
When you choose to deliver at Portneuf, mothers and babies are cared for by some of the most highly-trained labor and delivery nurses in the region. When you are expecting, you should expect a team ready to meet the unique challenges that occasionally occur during childbirth.
Our level 2 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is specifically designed to care for the tiniest of babies — babies born as early as 25 weeks. Staffed with board-certified neonatologists, pediatricians who have completed additional years of training, neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, dieticians, pharmacists, social workers and physical and speech therapists, you will rest easy knowing your baby is in caring, capable hands.
We at the Portneuf Women and Children Center invite expecting parents to celebrate the birth of your child with us. We also invite you to register for our Hospital Tours and/or Childbirth Classes online at Portneuf.org/events.
As we highlight the New’s Years Baby, it is always fun to take a look back at the thousands of magical moments we shared in 2018.
We are once again hosting our baby photo contest — it will be for babies born at Portneuf in 2018.
Please visit Portneuf.org/Magical-Moments or our Facebook page for more information. Entry and information will be available online starting Jan. 2, 2019.
