Texas Tech 81, Nevada 69
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) _ Stacy Bailey led a 3-point barrage as Texas Tech ended the longest losing streak in NCAA Division I with a 81-69 victory over Nevada in the seventh- place game of the Great Alaska Shootout.
Texas Tech (1-2), which had lost 20 games in a row, sank 12 3-pointers, including eight in the first half. The Red Raiders’ last victory was over Northwestern Louisiana on Dec. 30, 1989.
Bailey hit four 3-pointers and Bernard Saulsberry and Barron Brown had three apiece as the Red Raiders shot out to a 14-4 lead and didn’t trail again.
Bailey led the Raiders with 20 points, 13 in the second half. Saulsberry scored 14 of his 16 in the first half. Derex Butts also scored 18 for Texas Tech.
Texas Tech hit eight of 15 3-pointers in the first half to take a 38-30 lead.
Nevada (0-3) outscored the Raiders 10-3 to narrow the margin to 50-47 with 13. minutes to play. But Texas Tech scored nine straight points, five by Bailey, to boost the lead back to 12.
The Wolf Pack got no closer than seven points again.
Matt Williams led Nevada with 16 points. Ric Herrin had 14 before fouling out with 2:17 to play.
