BIRTH CERTIFICATES

People who’ve been adopted are urging Connecticut lawmakers to give them access to their birth certificates, but opponents warn this could be unfair to the parents who gave them up for adoption years ago. A bill up for a public hearing on Friday would repeal current law, which permits access to original birth records for adoptions finalized after 1983. By Susan Haigh. UPCOMING: 650 words by 3 p.m.

_ FORMER FIRE CHIEF-LARCENY: A former Connecticut fire chief accused of misusing town funds has been charged with larceny. Former Niantic fire chief Stephen Wargo was arrested Wednesday and released on bond. SENT.

BKW--VULNERABLE UCONN

No. 2 UConn is all but certain to get a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for a 13th consecutive year, but this one feels a little different. The Huskies have a regular season loss (two in fact) for the first time since 2014. They also will begin play with a giant question mark surrounding All-American Katie Lou Samuelson, who missed the last game of the regular season and the entire American Athletic Conference Tournament with a back injury.
