Central City tells owners to remove abandoned cars

May 16, 2019

Central City Borough has enacted a new property maintenance ordinance aimed at removing abandoned and junk cars from the borough.

At their regular monthly meeting Monday, council members decided to give a grace period to all property owners until June 1. After June 1, certified letters will be sent to property owners who continue to be in violation.

The property owners will be given 10 days to clean up and remove all items that are in violation. If the property is not cleaned up to comply with the ordinance, the violation will be sent to the district judge.

The council would also like to remind landlords that they must notify borough officials of their tenants’ names, as well as any change in tenants.
